Graphic Online gathers he felt sick after his mother's burial about three weeks ago. <h2><a href="https://ghanapa.com/profile-of-ex-president-jerry-john-rawlings/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">He was 73-years-old.</a></h2> Mr Rawlings was born on June 22, 1947. His mother, Madam Victorial Agbotui died in September 2020 at age 101 and was buried on October 24, 2020. <div><br /></div><div> As a former Ghanaian military leader and subsequent politician, Mr Rawlings led a military junta from 1981 until 1992 and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana from January 7, 1993 to January 6, 2001. </div><div><br /></div><div> Mr Rawlings initially came to power as a flight lieutenant of the Ghana Air Force following a coup d'état in 1979. </div><div><br /></div><div> Prior to that, he led an unsuccessful coup attempt against the ruling military government on May 15, 1979, just five weeks before scheduled democratic elections were due to take place. </div><div><br /></div><div> After initially handing power over to a civilian government, he took back control of the country on December 31, 1981 as the Chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC). </div><div><br /></div><div> In 1992, Mr Rawlings resigned from the military, founded the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and became the first President of the 4th Republic. </div><div><br /></div><div>He was re-elected in 1996 for four more years. You know, that is like the pot calling the kettle black… He is the last person to talk about integrity”, Mr. Kufuor’s spokesperson said on Joy FM yesterday.<br /> <br /> According to the former President Kufuor, Rawlings speaking about him and mentioning Nkrumah’s name positively is ‘hypocrisy’ because Rawlings has worked against the Nkrumah family, including fighting against Fathia Nkrumah’s final wishes.<br /> <br /> “He [Rawlings] also pontificates like he is a lover of late president Nkrumah.. That’s not the truth. When Acheampong gave a bungalow to Nkrumah’s family, it was Rawlings who took the bungalow and gave it to D.F Annan .. When Fathia wanted to be buried beside her husband, we all know what Rawlings said about that” Kufuor’s spokesperson said.<br /> <br /> “Someone built his hotel and later buys it. So Kufuor’s son bought African Regent, what is wrong with that?” he asked.<br /> <br /> “What is he trying to achieve? We are talking about floods and you bring in Kufuor… You pick a grudge against Kufuor because he replaced you.. You couldn’t have been president forever.” He said.<br /> <br /> On conniving with Villagio and African Regent, the spokesperson said “Kufuor doesn’t give permits.
