<strong>Mr. Speaker, Fellow Ghanaians, Distinguished Members of Parliament,</strong> </div><div><br /></div><div> It is with great honor and responsibility that I stand before you today to present the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Ghana. This budget represents a bold step towards national transformation, economic recovery, and social empowerment. Under the leadership of President John Mahama, we have not only made promises but have delivered on them. Today, I am proud to declare that we have fulfilled <strong>22 key commitments</strong> that are reshaping our nation.

Mr. Speaker, we pledged to run a lean and effective government. <strong>By reducing the number of ministers to just 60, we have cut down bureaucracy and saved millions in administrative costs.</strong> This is a testament to our commitment to responsible governance and accountability.
<h3><strong>Tax Relief for Ghanaians: A Breath of Fresh Air</strong></h3>
Ghanaians have long struggled under the burden of excessive taxation. We listened, and we acted. <strong>The removal of the E-Levy and Betting Tax</strong> marks a new chapter where citizens can engage in digital transactions and businesses can thrive without unnecessary tax constraints.

Additionally, <strong>we have abolished the COVID-19 Levy,</strong> ensuring that Ghanaians keep more of their hard-earned money while we focus on economic recovery through sustainable means.

 	<li><strong>Provision of free sanitary pads to schoolgirls</strong> to support their education and well-being.</li>
 	<li><strong>Free textbooks for all schoolchildren</strong> to enhance learning outcomes.</li>
 	<li><strong>Uncapping of the GETFund</strong> to ensure sustainable financing for education.</li>

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has sent a rebuttal to his predecessor President J.J Rawlings on allegations he allowed illegal structure Villagio to be erected on waterways through the deals he cut.<br />
<br />
In the official response transcribed by MyNewsGh.com, former President Kufuor through his spokesperson Dr Kwabena Osei Adubofour says Rawlings should be the last person to speak about integrity.<br />
<br />
“He [Rawlings] talks about integrity? You know, that is like the pot calling the kettle black… He is the last person to talk about integrity”, Mr. Kufuor’s spokesperson said on Joy FM yesterday.<br />
<br />
According to the former President Kufuor, Rawlings speaking about him and mentioning Nkrumah’s name positively is ‘hypocrisy’ because Rawlings has worked against the Nkrumah family, including fighting against Fathia Nkrumah’s final wishes.<br />
<br />
“He [Rawlings] also pontificates like he is a lover of late president Nkrumah.. That’s not the truth. When Acheampong gave a bungalow to Nkrumah’s family, it was Rawlings who took the bungalow and gave it to D.F Annan .. When Fathia wanted to be buried beside her husband, we all know what Rawlings said about that” Kufuor’s spokesperson said.<br />
<br />
“Someone built his hotel and later buys it. So Kufuor’s son bought African Regent, what is wrong with that?” he asked.<br />
<br />
“What is he trying to achieve? We are talking about floods and you bring in Kufuor… You pick a grudge against Kufuor because he replaced you.. You couldn’t have been president forever.” He said.<br />
<br />
On conniving with Villagio and African Regent, the spokesperson said “Kufuor doesn’t give permits. No one builds and goes to the presidency for permit to build”.<br />
<br />
Dubious deals causing flood<br />
<br />
MyNewsGh.com earlier reported about how Mr. Rawlings claimed that Kufuor is the pacesetter for illegal structures that stand in waterways, causing annual floods and that anyone else guilty of the crime is only following Kufuor’s lead.<br />
<br />
Rawlings made these allegations when he received Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) delegation at his office in Accra on Thursday, October 31, 2019, where he took the opportunity to comment on current happenings in Ghana including the recent mass failures in law school.<br />
<br />
<br />
Rawlings took a swipe at former president John Kufuor for “building” Villagio and acquiring African Regent hotel under the guise of making it a library or clinic but maintaining it as a hotel.<br />
<br />
Rawlings said even though Kufuor had complained African Regent was overlooking his house and posed a security threat, he acquired it.<br />

Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a Ghanaian politician and businessman who represents Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party.

He was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 to the seat of Assin North.
He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamenary elections.
In 2012 he was elected in the new seat of Assin Central and was re-elected in 2016.

Early life and education</h3>
Ohene Agyapong was born in Assin Dompim in the Central Region of Ghana. Agyapong holds a GCE A Level and studied in the Fordham University, New York, USA. He is a farmer and businessman, director of Assin Farms, Supercare Group of Companies and Hollyood Shopping Centre. He is married with six children.

Politics</h3>
In 2008, Agyapong had an unsuccessful bid to be Presidential flag-bearer of his affiliated party, the New Patriotic Party, losing out in the first round. The party's elected flag-bearer however lost the election.

In opposition, he criticized heavily the then National Democratic Congress government on various media platforms and found himself detained by presidential order of John Evans Atta-Mills, an occasion which sparked unrest on the political scene of Ghana.<br />
<br />
 He had made comments which the then head of state found threatening.

Many have pointed out that his comments on that occasion only pointed out the injustices to which members of the opposition party, particular market women, were subjected in parts of Accra when they turn out and tried to vote within certain constituencies.<br />
<br />
 Kennedy Agyapong chairs the Communication Committee in Parliament, under the current presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.

Agyapong has vowed to commit suicide if former President John Mahama's brother, Ibrahim, is not jailed by the Akufo-Addo government for some corrupt activities which, according to Agyapong, have led to the state losing money.<br />
<br />
 One example he claimed, was the defaulting of payment of taxes by Ibrahim Mahama for more than a year period when his brother was President of the Republic of Ghana.

Agyapong's personal campaign on the issue to bring it to media attention led to the investigation of Ibrahim Mahama and subsequent agreement of Ibrahim Mahama to pay the said taxes.<br />
<br />
This action earned Kennedy Agyapong praises from a wide section of Ghanaians.

Agyapong's indirect attack on the Electoral Commissioner of Ghana Charlotte Osei for, he alleged, trading sex for her position as the Electoral Commissioner (EC) boss brought upon him criticisms from various leaders including Queen mothers and human rights activists as well as other members of parliament.

In 2018, following the arrest of Ghana Football Association president Kwasi Nyantakyi, he said that anti-corruption investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas should be stopped before he started investigating people in their "bedrooms whilst asleep".<br />
<br />
 He has repeatedly threatened Anas and was condemned internationally by the Committee to Protect Journalists and Reporters Without Borders he stated that Anas' methods were 'unfair'.<br />
<br />
 Speaking live on Adom FM on 4 June 2018, he called Anas "a blackmailer, an extortionist", mimed his throat being cut and said he should be "hanged."

He also called for "retribution" against Anas' fellow reporter, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, saying "If he comes here, beat him... Whatever happens, I'll pay."<br />
<br />
Hussein-Suale was subsequently assassinated.<br />
<br />
 In July 2018, he was cross examined for contempt of Parliament.

He is believed to be the first Ghanaian individual to own an ¢8 million Rolls Royce, and is believed to also own a private jet, sparking calls for an investigation from the Customs Excise and Preventive Service into his wealth.

 11. Nana Addo promises his government will not <b>"witch-hunt" NDC officials</b> but fight corruption.

"I am fully committed to pursuing ‘an anti-corruption drive across-the board,’ as you put it, which will be fully anchored in the rule of law and strict respect for due process. That is the best form of security for every citizen of the country,"<br />

 12. <b>Nana Addo promises rubber processing factory for Ahanta West</b>:
He made the promise while speaking to the chiefs and residents of Ahanta West as part of his tour of the Western Region.

“We want to boost the Agric sector.<br />
<br />
Every district has something we can work with. That is why we say one factory, one district.<br />
<br />
This will not be difficult to do here in Ahanta West because we have a lot of resources.”

“We are coming to put up a rubber processing factory here so that people can get jobs to do.<br />
<br />
We will also restart the outgrowing scheme we introduced under the Kufuor administration which has collapsed today.<br />
<br />
We will restart the scheme for rubber producers to also get some money, as well as farmers,” he said.

13. <b>Health insurance scheme</b> is coming back according to Nana Addo and NPP.<br />
<br />
 14. <b>Nana Addo promises to establish Aluminium Industry</b> - his administration would oversee the mining of the vast and untapped bauxite deposits in Kyebi, Atiwa plains and Nyinahin, and through the building of an integrated aluminium industry, add value to the country’s bauxite deposits.<br />

 15. <b>Unemployment</b> - "We will create jobs for the youth – Nana Addo promises"<br />
