Mr Rawlings had been on admission at Korle Bu for about a week for an undisclosed ailment.

Graphic Online gathers he felt sick after his mother's burial about three weeks ago.

Mr Rawlings was born on June 22, 1947. His mother, Madam Victorial Agbotui died in September 2020 at age 101 and was buried on October 24, 2020. <div><br /></div><div> As a former Ghanaian military leader and subsequent politician, Mr Rawlings led a military junta from 1981 until 1992 and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana from January 7, 1993 to January 6, 2001. </div><div><br /></div><div> Mr Rawlings initially came to power as a flight lieutenant of the Ghana Air Force following a coup d'état in 1979. </div><div><br /></div><div> Prior to that, he led an unsuccessful coup attempt against the ruling military government on May 15, 1979, just five weeks before scheduled democratic elections were due to take place. </div><div><br /></div><div> After initially handing power over to a civilian government, he took back control of the country on December 31, 1981 as the Chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC). </div><div><br /></div><div> In 1992, Mr Rawlings resigned from the military, founded the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and became the first President of the 4th Republic. </div><div><br /></div><div>He was re-elected in 1996 for four more years.

Incredible news reaching GhanaSky.com reportors indicate that, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur who was a Ghanaian economist, academic, politician, fifth Vice-President of Ghana's 4th Republic, in office from 6 August 2012 until 7 January 2017, under President John Dramani Mahama passes on or has died.<br />

An aide to the late Kwesi Amissah-Arthur confirmed the death to Citi News, the source of GhanaSky.com news.<br />

Reports indicated that he collapsed at Airforce Gym on Friday morning during a workout session, and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital.<br />
<br />
Before becoming Veep in August 2012, he was Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.<br />
<br />
From 1983 to 1986, Amissah-Arthur served as a special assistant to the Secretary of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwesi Botchwey under the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) government.<br />
<br />
He also served as the Deputy Secretary for Finance in the PNDC government from February 1986 to March 1993.<br />
<br />
From April 1993, he continued as the Deputy Minister for Finance in the under the Fourth Republic’s first government until March 1997.<br />
<br />
Mr. Amissah-Arthur was appointed as Governor of the Bank of Ghana in October 2009 by then-President John Atta Mills.<br />
<br />
He held that position until August 6 2012, when he became Vice-President of Ghana following the death of Atta Mills.
