Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia - Vice President of GHANA
The government of Ghana is expected to employ over 3,000 graduates in the generating digital addresses for houses across the country following the launch of the National Digital Post Address System (NDPAS ).

The project expected to be rolled out in 2018 , will be carried by the government through the Ghana Post Company Limited.

“Provision has been made for every Ghanaians to be able to access the newly innovative address system”, Dr Gideon Boako, Economic and Technical Adviser to Vice President revealed .

His disclosure was in response to allegations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the National Digital Property Address System was “useless and limited to few Ghanaians” since most people have no access to smart phones.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Hello Fm, the special adviser confirmed that government has made provision to address the challenge ahead.

“We all agree that without smart phone one can’t access the GPS. It is also an established fact that, not every Ghanaian has smart phone. It was for this reason that, as part of the cost, government has allocated fund for the procurement of about 3,000 smart phones for the Ghana Post so that, graduates from all institutions would be recruited in the generation of digital addresses”. Mr Boako hinted

“They will be responsible for generating digital addresses for all houses without smart phones. After, the addresses are going to be on plates and pasted in front of every house in this country. Mr Boako revealed.

According to him, the the system is well planed and very complete to function effectively.

The National Digital Property Address System (GPS) was designed by Vokacom, a Ghanaian information technology firm which partnered the Ghana Post Company Limited and the National Technology Agency (NITA) to host the data.

The system is location-based and is expected to offer an effective means of providing an address to every location and place in the country, including undeveloped parcels of land, using an information technology application.

The app will generate a unique code for every property or location in Ghana with the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.
