According to him, the stadium is in its current state of abyss because it was neglected for nine years. He hinted that the NDC administrations of late President Mills and ex-President John Mahama abandon the stadium reason why it is in a deplorable state.
He made these remarks at the 42nd edition of the MTN SWAG Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
He however said that unlike the previous administration, the Nana Addo led government is committed to sports and will ‘fix’ the stadium that is deteriorating at an alarming space.
The legislator for the Atwima Mponua constituency revealed that plans are already underway to renovate the stadium that was given a facelift in 2007 ahead of the 2008 AFCON.
“The over nine years has seen the stadium in this deplorable state but we are going to fix it. Already I (Isaac Asiamah) have received a structural audit of the stadium and we are going to undertake the renovations in faces".
I’m already in touch with stakeholders to close down the part of the stadium that could potentially cause havoc. We will also do face-lifting on the pitch”.
