The Electoral Commission has opened a second opportunity for first time voters to register themselves ahead of the December 7 general elections.

The move by the EC is an implementation of one of its recently adopted electoral reforms, the Continuous Registration exercise, which will seek to register eligible voters who could not get their names on the electoral roll in the Limited Biometric Voter Registration exercise a few months ago.

The modalities for the continuous registration exercise were completed by political parties at an Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

The Electoral Commission has set August 19 and 26 for the exercise.

“The modalities for Continuous Voter Registration have been finalized,” the Electoral Commission announced via its social media accounts.

“For all persons 18years and above and of sound mind, who have not yet been able to register, we are giving you the opportunity to get yourself registered from 19th and 26th August, 2016 at all our District Offices across the country.

“This will enable you to be able to vote on December 7,” it added.
