2012 Ghana Presidential Results Summary

John Dramani Mahama: born on 29 November 1958, is the current President of Ghana, in office since 2012. Mahama served as the Vice President of Ghana from 2009 to 2012, and took office as President on 24 July 2012 following the death of his predecessor, John Atta Mills.

 He was elected to serve his first term as President in the December 2012 election.
 A communication expert, historian, and writer, Mahama was a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2009 and Minister of Communications from 1998 to 2001. John Dramani Mahama is married to Lordina Dramani Mahama.

Mahama has three children on the record named Farida, Sharaf and Jesse. He is a Christian, born and raised a Presbyterian but is now a member of Assemblies of God, Ghana due to marriage.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo: born on 29 March 1944, is a Ghanaian politician who ran for President of Ghana in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections as the New Patriotic Party candidate.

He is currently the NPP flag bearer for the 2016 elections. He served as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007.

Akufo-Addo was the chief campaigner for candidate Kufuor in the 2000 election and became the first Attorney General and Minister for Justice of the Kufuor era.

Akufo-Addo is married to Rebecca Akufo-Addo with five daughters and five grandchildren.

According to GHANASKY.COM, after almost eight months of election petition hearing, the nine Justices of Supreme Court who sat on the case upheld the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama, dismissing the petition of Nana Akufo-Addo and two others who went to court.

Nana Akufo-Addo immediately after the petition declared his acceptance of the Supreme Court verdict but stated that he disagreed with it. he said his acceptance was in honor of a promise he made to the people of Ghana to accept whatever verdict the Court may bring.
