Mr Gyan Baffour, father of Ghana national team captain, Asamoah Gyan, has denied ever saying his son’s real age is 40 instead of 30.
Shortly after Asamoah Gyan celebrated his 30th birthday with a mega party at his residence over the weekend, rumours circulated on social media that Mr Gyan Baffour had said at the party that the Blacks Stars skipper reduced his real age by 10 years.
But the father of the Shanghai SIPG striker said he is shocked by the reports.
“I am very shocked by these reports. How and where did I say that Asamoah Gyan is 40, how old is even my first born?” he asked in an interview with Accra-based Montie FM.
Mr Gyan Baffour said he has not granted an interview to anyone or any media house in which he made the alleged comment.
“I have four children with the first being a lady and the last being Asamoah Gyan. My first born is 39; Baffour, who follows is 36, then comes Opoku, who is 33, before Asamoah, who is 30. They all have three-year intervals separating them,” he explained.
Public records on Asamoah Gyan say the former Sunderland striker was born on November 22, 1985, in Accra.
