Angry National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Tema West constituency have warned they will vote against any parliamentary candidate the party tries to impose on them in the 2016 elections.

The members, mainly supporters of two aspirants in the party’s parliamentary primaries, have accused the vetting committee of scheming to disqualify their preferred aspirants; George Enu and Bill Haglo.

According to them, the move is also a ploy by the vetting committee to push the party’s favourite, who is the National Vice Chair, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to represent the NDC unopposed.

Interestingly, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo did not file his nomination to contest in the primaries and this has angered the supporters of the two candidates.

“Ofosu Ampofo will not come to Tema West because when he comes he will lose, what is happening right now is confirming the speculations that we had been habouring,” one of the supporters said.

“If they do not revert their decision, we assure them that Carlos Ahenkora from the NPP will go unopposed,” another angry supporter said.

Another supporter shouted, “…They are not concerned about the constituency, we know Ofosu Ampofo is our ‘father’ but we are just saying that we want a new leader.”

The NDC has cleared 98 parliamentary aspirants in the Greater Accra Region to contest in the party’s November 7 primaries.

At the end of vetting on Friday, 6 were disqualified while vetting of two others was put on hold.
