Latest is a press conference organised by a group calling itself Friends of Nii Armah Ashietey, where they cautioned Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings and her supporters against pointing accusing fingers at the incumbent MP.
“Our MP, Nii Armah Ashietey, is not interested in combative, confrontational and divisive politics,” spokesman for the group, Sacut Amenga Etego, noted and advised all contestants to “focus on the issues if they have anything to offer the people of Klottey Korle.”
Among other things, he alleged that Zenator’s name has not been recorded in the books of the Klottey Korle constituency and that she is not a registered voter on the Electoral Commission’s national voters’ register.
Sacut and his group also expressed surprise that Leeford Quarshie was disqualified for going independent in 2012 whilst Zenator Rawlings, who was seen wearing NDP T-shirts in support of her mother’s agenda against the ruling NDC in 2012, sailed through the vetting process to contest on NDC’s ticket.
“Even though we were surprised, we chose to ignore it for the sake of party unity and in line with our MP’s advice,” he stated.
In the same vein, the group added, even though it was the MP who facilitated the dredging of the Klottey lagoon, Zenator claimed credit for it, noting, “Again, our honourable MP chose to leave her to take the credit.”
Ashietey’s boys also expressed surprise at claims by Zenator that she sponsored the dredging of the Klottey lagoon, since according to them the “lagoon was dredged by government using government equipment, government operators and government’s fuel through the AMA.”
Sacut and his friends could not fathom why the former president’s daughter shied away from rating the performance of President Mahama.
“When asked how she rates the President on Viasat 1 television on October 12, 2015 Zenator Rawlings said ‘I am not a rating company’. Again, on October 13, 2015 when asked the same question on Citi FM’s point blank radio programme, she avoided it and proceeded to declare that President Mahama needs a better team, which is why she is coming on board,” Sacut stated, adding, “It is not surprising that she failed to turn up for her subsequent planned and announced interviews with Starr FM and Radio Gold...”
