Two inmates are reported to have escaped from the Amanfrom Prisons in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region.

Both are Ghanaians and are said to be 20 and 28 years.

Their names are immediately not known.

Assistant Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Prisons Service, Ashanti Region, Lance Corporal George Owusu, confirmed the incident to Kasapafmonline.com.

He explained that the two escaped from the farms of the prisons service in the early hours of Friday.

“Today in the Ashanti Region – we did our amnesty discharge for all the eight units in the region. So, those who were not part of the amnesty were taken to the farms and it is a result of this that we encountered the situation where two of the inmates escaped. One escaped from the vegetable farm and the other escaped from the piggery,” he narrated.

He said their search party is on the ground doing everything possible to recapture the two.
