Flagbearer and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor has lashed out at her critics, especially those who questioned her membership of government’s recent delegation to Italy, stressing that she is among the chief advisors of President John Dramani Mahama.

“[President John Dramani Mahama] takes every advice I give him,” she stated on TV3’s News @10 on Monday, July 20.

She cited the continuation of the Suhum road and the construction of the Asamankese Road in the Eastern Region as projects prosecuted by government based on her advice.

The former assemblywoman also said relief measures by government for farmers are policies borne from her ideas.

Taxes on cutlasses and other farming implements were relaxed, she said, upon her advice.

“I have told [President Mahama] to even increase prices of cocoa to farmers in order to stop smuggling,” she added.

Government has come under criticism for including the GFP leader in most official trips with the recent being the president’s three-day Italy trip.

But parrying the criticism, Madam Donkor, who is a farmer by profession, observed that given the bilateral agreements signed with Rome, President Mahama should be allowed to contest the 2016 presidential elections unopposed, in order to see to the fruition of those agreements.

She said agreements on the reconstruction of the country’s railways, the revamping of the tomato factory and the solutions proffered for the energy crisis are evidence of the hard work of the Mahama-led government.

She also stressed that apart from the president, none of the members of the delegation has gone round, like she has, to tell about what happened in Italy.

She asked the public to disregard the criticisms and come together to support the president.
